Pain & Symptom Management
An important objective of palliative care is relief of pain and other symptoms that may cause discomfort.
In alignment with the individual’s goals of care, pain and symptoms can be managed with medication and other therapies so individuals are more comfortable. Medication can be provided for a variety of conditions and symptoms including pain, nausea, breathlessness, difficulties sleeping, anxiety etc.
Emotional & Spiritual Support.
It is normal for individuals to have questions, worries, and concerns when faced with a life-limiting illness. Hospice House uses a team approach, including professionals and volunteers, to address the needs of individuals and families, including emotional & spiritual matters.
This support is aimed at relieving suffering and improving quality of life through such means as encouraging self-care, assisting with important conversations with family and friends, developing creative ways of coping, supporting healthy grieving, and fostering growth and emotional healing, in order to make the most of every day.
